hi everyone my name is lando and i’m the director/writer of a short horror film that will be shooting this oct. 19th-21st and i’m currently raising money to make it with my crew!
i say a lot of this in the video itself but i’ll say it here too in case people don’t have time to watch/can’t hear.
being a trans men i see little to no actual trans men in media and whenever i do even see a trans character they tend to be trans 101 for the cisgender audience. its something that always bothered me because often times these characters never feel real and when i run into a cis person i kind of feel like they expect me to be like that. so i wrote a script with two very different trans characters and now its being made into a short film that features at least one trans actor (and trans director)!
synopsis
alan is a young forensic pathology student in the 80s who sighs up for a one-on-one independent study. he figures that during this time he can test the waters by coming out as trans to his professor first, then learns that his professor, dr. tipton is also trans. dr. tipton gives him easy access to hormones to start transitioning, but also reveals that he is into some pretty strange body modifications using parts of cadavers. alan struggles between the views of society and how its possible to be himself.where the money is going
so we primarily need the money to pay actors, feed cast and crew, get props/costumes/make-up, and any extra sound effects/music. we won’t be making money off this film but we do want to use it in our demo reels to get future jobs. i’ve got a wonderful crew and i’d love to see them be able to work this film as best as possible.its pretty rocky horror and re-animator inspired. i’m really into 70s-80s b horrors and thats what a lot of this is going to be stylized after. which means that we are going to have a pretty good chunk of the budget of effects and make-up along with costuming to really make this look like it was in the 80s.
