sevi007:

Hellsing
rewatch aka I can’t believe this took me ten years to notice:

“Only a
human can destroy a monster. Only a human could dare hope to.“ – Alucard

You know how killed the Major in the end, someone who had been
repeatedly called a monster? Integra.

You know who killed the Captain, a werewolf? Pip. (Through Seras, in a
way, but it was Pip who held the silver weapon)

You know who kills the Doc, who did some pretty monstrous experiments?
Not the vampirified Walter right next to him, but a part of the ceiling crashing
down. Walter didn’t carry out the last hit, leaving it to fate (or, human
construction).

And you know which monster did not get destroyed in the end, after
several non-humans had tried to do destroy him? Alucard.

Neither Alucard nor Seras – despite being main characters! – carry out
the last hit against the real monsters among their enemies, the leaders, so to
speak.

All the monsters that did die in this series – the “larger” ones
at least – died by human hands, or at least not by the hands of any non-human
being.

*slow clap* Well played, Hirano.

(There’s also Penwood, who kills an entire vampire batallion in a self-sacrifice despite not being a vampire hunter, so let him have a honorable mention here.)
