My kryptonite: superheroes and horrific monsters and characters of great importance, surrounded by other amazing beings and people… falling head-over-heels for normal, insignificant humans.
Radiant demigods and ancient demonic beings finding love and warmth and comfort in the bookstore owner on the corner, or the sweet little nightowl they happened to bump into on their way home one night, or the cashier that always asks how they’ve been in a way far more sincere than they greet the other customers.
Give me restless nightwalkers that always end up at particular photographer’s door, no matter how much they try to stay away. Werewolves who’s rages are only calmed by the voice of the local florist they’ve grown so fond of. Give me Demons and Angels who retreat to the homes of laborers and school teachers when they are wounded and vulnerable.
Give me beasts and champions alike who lay down their weapons at the end of the day to go home and rest their head on a human’s shoulder.
