As a former zookeeper we would hear this a lot. “If you don’t study hard you’ll end up cleaning poop for a living.” It’s the one time we’re allowed to go off on the visitors. I once heard my boss rant for five minutes at a lady, in front of her kids, about how he had a Master’s degree, how people literally worked there for free, and how dare she judge people without bothering to know anything about them. Later that day his boss came by and said, roughly, “She told us what happened. Thanks for not throwing anything this time.”

Like a shovelful of animal poop? She would have deserved it.
And the job market fucking sucks so if a job is literally all you can get why should you be looked down on or classed as ‘lazy’ or ‘didn’t work hard at school’ or denied a living pay?
I’m unemployed at the moment because I’m trying like fuck to find a job in my local area and in my particular field (tech support). I’m disabled so commuting is out, or any job that involves physical effort or being on my feet. And for nearly a year I’ve found NOTHING. Yet people even at the job centre call me ‘lazy’ and keep telling me to ‘try harder’ and ‘overcome your limitations’ while they give me application forms for jobs 50 miles away.
If you treat people in so-called ‘menial’ (they’re not) jobs or the unemployed as lazy shits then you are a 24 carat gold shithead.
